The botsu baku 4's puzzle was incredible, otherwise the hard puzzles tend only to be hard because they are so tedious to complete.

I love hashiwokakero puzzles (but I think the name is too long!) I'd like to see more hard and fewer easy puzzles. Easy is boring... and I can't click as fast as it seems that some people can...

There's a bug with Try mode in Hashi puzzles: if there's already one bridge between two islands when you turn Try mode on, it won't let you try placing a second bridge between them. This often makes Try mode useless. Of course, even better than fixing the bug would be to add Yajilin to the site instead. These derbies fascinate me. I'm not analyzing this much, though - I'm just picking a gate mainly on a feeling. - ZM

The Hashiwokakero is now one of my favorite puzzles! My all-time favorite is Masyu; I see that it's hard to find books of Masyu, unlike Sudoku and Kakuro. I also love Nurikabe, but the controls are not very user-friendly. And Akari is surprisingly addictive, too.

These puzzles are fun to solve, and the applet is easy and intuitive. The big puzzles are especially fun; I wish there were more of these. The small puzzles are basically speed-clicking contests and are sometimes disappointing.

This game idea is really nice, I like the sociological aspect to it. Hashiwokakero is definitely one of my favorite nikoli puzzles. The online version could be slightly improved by an alternative input-mode (i.e. for touchpads), which makes empty spaces between numbers clickable, so that there is no need for ""click and drag"" and it just cycles through: one line, two lines, no line. If there are two possibilities at one place (horizontal & vertical) it should go through all 4 combinations.

How the winners are ranked

The gate number is the key to winning the Nikoli Derby. The smallest gate number chosen by only one person is the winner. If two or more persons choose the same gate number they will lose the race. This means that you have to choose the smallest number that nobody else has chosen to win the race. What is the smallest number from 1 to 100?

Right, of course gate number 1 has the greatest advantage, but other horse owners know that too. If say, two or more horses are entered for each of gates 1 to 50, then the horse starting from gate 51 will win. Now, you have to guess the "smaller number" of those where you will be the only starting horse. The final ranking is ordered from smaller to larger numbers.
