Windows
Internet Explorer 7(IE7)
You can install IE7 in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). For detailed information, please see the Internet Explorer 7 Support Page from Microsoft.
We have checked that the puzzles of nikoli.com will work in IE7.
But depending on the settings of your IE before installing IE7, you may need to change some settings after installing IE7.
If you cannot do the puzzles (if Flash doesn't work), please try the steps below.
Enable ActiveX controls and plug-ins
- Start IE7 and choose Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- Choose Internet zone from Security tab and click Custom level....
- Choose Enable under Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins and click the OK button.
- Click the OK button and close the setting screen.
Deactivate "Doing active contents from the file of My Computer"
- Start IE7 and choose Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- Take off a check mark of Allow active content to run in files on My Computer under the Security tree of Advanced tab.
- Click the OK button and close the setting screen.
- Restart IE7.
If you register nikoli.com among your "Trusted sites", you can do our puzzles with the "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" option on.
- Even if you leave the check mark in the "option" above, you can do the puzzles by registering that nikoli.com is one of your Trusted sites. Please refer to the following process.
- Start IE7 and choose Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- Choose Trusted sites from the Security tab and click the Sites button.
- Remove check mark for Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.
- Enter http://www.nikoli.com in Add this website to the zone and click the Add button.
- Add https://member.nikoli.com by same way.
- Click Close and OK and close the screen of setting.
Reset IE7 setting.
This is the last option if you cannot do the puzzles. If you do a "reset," your passwords, temporary files and cookies will be deleted in IE. When you do a "reset," be careful to read the information at "What will happen after the reset." in the confirmation screen of the "reset."
- Start IE7 and choose Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- Choose Advanced tab and click the Reset button at the bottom right.
- Confirmation screen for the reset appears on the display and click the Reset button.
- Click Close, OK and OK.
- Restart IE7.
Internet Explorer 6(IE6)
We have checked that the puzzles of nikoli.com will work in IE6.
Firefox
We have checked that the puzzles of nikoli.com will work in Firefox1x and Firefox2x. We will keep checking this with new versions.
Netscape
We have checked that the puzzles of nikoli.com will work in Netscape7x
Maybe you can do the puzzles in older versions of Netscape but it may be that the layout of the pages will not appear correctly. We recommend to use version 7x or 8x.
Opera
We have checked that the puzzles of nikoli.com will work in Opera9. But we have not checked it in all older versions of Opera.
Mac OS X
Safari
The Safari1.x and Flash Player9 combination causes this problem! Please refer the next information.

You should not experience major problems with Mac OS X 10.4x(Tiger), here you can use Safari 2.x. The trouble happens only under Safari 1.x.
Firefox
We have checked that the puzzles of nikoli.com will work in Firefox1x and Firefox2x. We will keep checking this with new versions.
Netscape
We have checked that the puzzles of nikoli.com will work in Netscape7.1. It is almost same as the Windows versions of Netscape and there is very little trouble.
Opera8.01
We have checked that the puzzles of nikoli.com will work in Opera8.01. But we have not checked it in all older versions of Opera.
Internet Explorer
You cannot do the puzzles of nikoli.com using Mac versions of Internet Explorer. Because .swf files do not work in the independent window. This is a problem of Mac IE, and we cannot get around it or do anything about it.
Mac OS9
Safari and Firefox do not supply OS9 browsers. And we cannot check the working with OS9.
We recommend using Netscape 7.0x for OS9 users. It is almost same as the Windows versions of Netscape and there is very little trouble.
